Caring for your TinyHobo
At TinyHobo, we use 100% sheep wool rovings, felted to create many of our fine pieces of art. Felt is a non-woven cloth that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibers together to become a fabric. The art of felting is one of the oldest forms of fabric making. It predates weaving and even knitting. We use wool for its soft texture, vibrant color absorption and its great natural properties. Nothing manages moisture, regulates temperature or repels odor better than wool.
General Care
Below are some tips on how to take care of your felted TinyHobo products.
Felt does not require regular washing, but a good airing after use in wet weather is probably a good idea.
Wipe off liquid spills immediately and pat dry with a soft cloth.
Food stains can be removed by scraping and wiping with a damp cloth.
When needed you may wash the product in cold water by hand. Please take precaution to not agitate the fabric as it may reshape or shrink the product.
Avoid heavy mechanical movements and strong detergents.
Do not let felt soak for long periods; wash the product quickly in a bowl of cold water.
Squeeze extra water off.
Lay flat and allow to dry overnight.
Wool cannot be bleached.
When felt is worn or used often, you will notice small bunches of loose wool fibers migrate out of the piece and form small "rolly pollies." This is common to all wool pieces and can be thought of as wool's "offspring." Remove the rolly pollies from the item by pulling them off (it will not tear the pieces) or use lint shaver. The piece will actually become stronger over time as it is used.
